Thursday, September 27th 2012 01:00

Derbyshire Captain Wayne Madsen

Derbyshire's cricketers are set to bring their newly won County Championship Division two title to Chesterfield

They've been invited to this weekend's League Two game between the Spireites and Torquay United by the club and will parade the trophy on the pitch at half-time.

It's a fitting tribute for the championship winning Falcons who have always received excellent support from the town. The success of the Chesterfield cricket festival each year with swelled crowds showing the game is as popular in North Derbyshire as anywhere else.

The championship was won on the final day of last season after Derbyshire beat Hampshire at the County Ground. It was the club's first trophy since 1993.
