Tom's Golden Miles Challenge walk has been officially way-marked by the Peak District National Park.

The 35 mile fundraising walk was devised by Gillian Scotford, mum to Thomas, who is a regular visitor to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

Thomas, 15, is prone to fits and choking, has had 3 respiratory arrests and requires 24-hour care.

'Tom's Golden Miles' has now been way-marked officially, so every wooden post in Derbyshire will carry the sign 'The Golden Miles'.  The route can now be used for any fundraising event or for leisure.

Gillian has also made a book called 'The Golden Miles' which gives a guide of the routes, as well as the 20 Derbyshire Peak District villages it includes, with 50% of profits going to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

Gillian and a group of 18 women will be completing the whole 35 miles starting on June 8th, and she is encouraging walkers to join them on the final 7 miles on June 10th.  The walk starts at Queen Mary Bower, Chatsworth House, with participants meeting at 10.45am.

You can contact Andrea at Bluebell Wood for further details on 01909 517 365.
