Queen's Park celebrates the award for the 8th straight year. Two of Chesterfield's parks have been recognised as being amongst the best in the U.K after picking up Green Flag awards.
Queen's Park has been recognised for an 8th consecutive year and Holmebrook Valley Park picks up the award for the second year in a row.
They were judged by a consortium following the Green Flag Award Scheme's guidelines and are part of a record breaking 1,424 sites to be recognised this year.
Councillor Chris Ludlow, Executive Member for the Environment at Chesterfield Borough Council said: "Our parks are fantastic places for local communities to use on a daily basis whether it’s for play, walking the dog, getting healthy or just enjoying the magnificent green spaces that we have.
"We’ve introduced a number of activities at both parks in recent years and invested in the maintenance, upkeep and facilities on offer. The recent success of our lottery bid for the redevelopment of Eastwood Park in Hasland will also help to put this park forward for a Green Flag award in the future.”
