Chesterfield Residents being warned about Removing Waste

Chesterfield Borough Council has released a warning for residents to check that companies who remove waste from their properties are properly licensed.

The warning comes after a local man was found guilty of failing to ensure that household waste was transferred to an authorised person.

Cllr Chris Ludlow, Executive Member for the Environment at Chesterfield Borough Council said: "The duty of care now lies with the person who authorises someone to take away the waste so you must double check that the waste collector has the necessary permit otherwise you could face prosecution if your waste is found to be fly-tipped.”

The waste collector must also give you a waste transfer note for any collected waste and you should keep a record of their details in case your rubbish is found dumped.
