Community care centre in Derbyshire gets the go ahead

Thursday, October 11th 2012 01:00

Planners have approved the development of a specialist community care centre in Darley Dale.

The facility which is set to cost around £9.5 million will provide support for older people across the whole of the Derbyshire Dales and will be built on the land next to the Whitworth Hospital.

The care centre will be split up into three blocks which will provide 16 long-term residential beds for people with dementia; 16 short term residential beds for people needing intermediate and respite care and day care facilities for use by visiting day care clients, residents and visitors.

Building work is expected to start in spring of next year.
