Council rejects plans for 520 homes in North Derbyshire

Friday, August 10th 2012 01:00

Plans to controversially build 520 houses in greenfield sites in North Derbyshire have been rejected by Derbyshire Dales District Council.

Councillors took the vote at Monday night's meeting leaning instead towards encouraging planners to look at building on the brownfield sites instead of the currently un-blighted green space.

They suggested alternative locations like the Halldale and Harveydale quarries as well as the Bakewell Road development.

The plans include 270 new homes in Matlock, a further 160 for Darley Dale, while Wirksworth is set for 60 and Tansley 30 new homes.
