Derbyshire sprinkler campaign will continue

Tuesday, October 16th 2012 01:00

A letter from a former minister about a Derbyshire campaign to install sprinkler systems in all new homes has angered its supporters.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service had received lots of support for the proposed changes to fire regulations. But Andrew Stunell, who was the minister responsible for building regulations, ruled out the idea.

The move has been given a lot of publicity in the last few years with 3 high profile fires in the county: one in Fairfield in Buxton, Hulland Ward near Ashbourne and most recently in Victory Road in Derby.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said they will continue with the campaign.
