Derbyshire's "at risk" encouraged to get Flu jab

Tuesday, October 16th 2012 01:00

Derbyshire people most at risk of flu are being told not to be complacent about having the jab.

Many people haven't got round to making an appointment because of last year's unusually mild flu season but Derbyshire NHS staff are warning of the risks of not being vaccinated.

Each year around 600 people die from seasonal flu, a figure which can rise as high as 13,000 deaths during an epidemic.

Those in the "at risk" category are the elderly, asthmatics and pregnant women amongst others.

If you think you are in that category or to find out how to go about getting the jab the advice is to get in touch with your local G.P.
