Photo: (David Griffin).Derbyshire Specialist Batting Coach David Houghton is to continue in his role at the County Ground for the duration of the 2013 season.
The club has moved to retain the services of Houghton, who played a key part in ensuring Derbyshire were promoted to Division One of the LV=County Championship in 2012.
Head
Coach Karl Krikken has again opted to utilise the Specialist Coaching Fund, one
of the key elements of the future cricket strategy; announced in June 2011.
Having
been appointed to the role last winter, Houghton will once again work within a
specific remit of coaching and improving the batsmen at the club both at senior
and Academy level.
The
former Zimbabwe captain has been employed by his country and by the ECB in
recent years.
Krikken
said: ‘David is without doubt a premium, top level batting coach who quite
rightly commands a great deal of respect within the game.
‘For
our talented young batsmen to once again be able to tap into his experience,
knowledge and expertise will be of great benefit to both the individual players
and the club as a whole as we embark upon the challenge of Division One
cricket.’
