Giant crochet sculpture revealed at Chatsworth

Artist Shauna Richardson with her Lionheart Project

Three giant crocheted lions are on show at Chatsworth to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad 2012.

Artist Shauna Richardson created the enormous Lionheart Project over a two year period. 

She has used 36 miles of Swaledale wool fom the Derbyshire Dales to to create an interpretation of the three golden lions on Richard the Lionheart's cost of arms.  It is also a celebration of the rich textile heritage of the East Midlands.

The lions will be on public display in a 16 metre long illuminated glass case at Chatsworth in front of the Bastion Wall until 10th June, when they then embark on a tour of the East Midlands before arriving at the Natural History Museum in London in time for tthe London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
