More affordable homes for the Dales

Wednesday, January 25th 2012 00:00

Two housing projects have been given the go-ahead to develop new affordable homes for local people in the Derbyshire Dales.

12 new homes will be built in Grindleford and 33 in Dare Daley.

The homes will be built largely of natural stone, designed to blend with local traditional architecture, with 'green' features such as photovoltaic roof-tiles for renewable energy, high levels of insulation and water butts for the garden.

More than 800 new affordable homes have been built in the Derbyshire Dales since 2002 for local people.

Available properties are advertised every two weeks and local people - who have to register first - can 'bid' for the homes they are interested in.  To apply to join Home-Options, visit the Home-Options website http://www.home-options.org and use the on-line registration form.
