Olympic Flame visits Sheffield

The Olympic torch is on its way to Sheffield today, on day 38 of the relay.

It will be begin its journey at Chapeltown, through the University of Sheffield to Ecclesall and then into the City centre.

On its route this afternoon it will make a very special visit to Sheffield Children's Hospital.

Torchbearers will include Lord Sebastian Coe who headed the London 2012 bid.  Seb who was brought up in Sheffield, won four Olympic medals including the 1500m gold at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics.

The last Torchbearer of the day will be Carys Hall, 19, from Sheffield, who will carry the Flame into the Evening Celebration in Barkers Pool.  There she will light a celebration cauldron on stage at the event.

The evening celebration will feature a variety of entertainment starting from 5.30pm.
