Parents in Derbyshire still have time to apply for child's secondary school place

Thursday, October 18th 2012 01:00

There's still time for parents of year six pupils to apply to Derbyshire County Council for their place at secondary school in September 2013.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Wednesday 31 October.

Parents will have the chance to list, in order of preference, their three top schools that they would like their child to go to.

Councillor Mike Longden, Derbyshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: " We want parents to carefully consider which school they want their child to go to and get their application in before the deadline to give themselves the best chance of success.

"If they miss the deadline they risk not getting a place for their child at their preferred school and that could mean them having to travel further to an alternative school or not get into the same school as their friends."

To apply you can go online in the schools admissions section of the website HERE

Parents can still choose to complete the paper form, which they can get by emailing admissions@derbyshire.gov.uk or calling 01629 537499.
