Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident involving a 10 year-old girl in Staveley.
On Monday, April 23 at 3.10pm a girl was walking across playing fields near to Circular Road when she was approached by a man who she did now know.
The man tugged at the girl’s coat and pulled her a few metres towards the centre of the playing field.
The girl then kicked the man on his shin, he fell to the ground and she ran off.
The man was described as being white and in his early 30s. He is between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall with short dark hair. He wore a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans and dark coloured shoes.
Police have conducted house-to-house enquiries in the area and have advised local schools of the incident and urged teachers to reinforce the stranger-danger message with their pupils.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire police on the non-emergency number 101.
To report anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
