Serious road collision in Sheffield

A 23 year old local woman has suffered serious leg injuries after a road traffic collision in Sheffield.

She was so badly hurt that it is resulting in the amputation of her left leg below the knee.

The collision happened at around 20:05 on Monday the 2nd of July on the Bansley Road in Sheffield just after the Horndean Road junction close to the entrance for the Northern General Hospital.

A silver BMW 3 series crossed over to the opposite lane, mounted the pavement and collided with a lamppost and a bus stop hitting 8 pedestrians. A 45 year old man sustained a hip injury; a 21 year olf man injured his arm and a 23 year old man suffered broken bones.

Police would like to speak to those involved with helping the injured or anyone else with any information on their non-emergency number 101.
