Sheffield goes Gold for Jessica Ennis

Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis will be welcomed back to her home City of Sheffield this afternoon by thousands of people.

Ennis took the gold medal in the heptathlon at the Olympics on 4th August.

Around 10,000 people are expected at a public celebration taking place in Barker's Pool from 4pm.

Sheffield City centre has been decorated with gold and the City Council have encouraged residents to wear something gold to the event.

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, councillor John Campell will have the job of officially welcoming Jessica back home on a stage outside the City Hall.

There she will unveil her "Sheffield Legends" plaque, which has been painted gold to celebrate her Olympic win.
