Update

1 Month down and its time to see how Becky has progressed. It’s been a month of hard work in the gym put through her paces by myself and hard work at home with the healthy eating. Becky has worked tirelessly to achieve her goals and her motivation levels have spiked as she is starting to see her body change as the last few weeks have passed. She has had the occasional slip up at the weekends but is starting to realise that burning the candle at both ends won’t help her in achieving her goals. However, to be fair I have been very impressed with her attitude and commitment and if she continues at this rate she won’t be far off her 3-month targets!

Here are Becky’s first Reassessment Scores:

Result 1st BodyStat Reassessment Stat Results
Fat % 31.7 28.6 -3.1%
Fat Weight kg 25 kg 21.9 -3.1kg
Lean Weight Kg 55kg 54.8 -0.2 kg
Water % 46% 48.2 +2.2%
Water ltr 36.7lt 37.0 +0.3
BMI 26.7 25.3 -1.4

Becky’s measurements are as follows;

Chest = 37 inches Waist = 30 inches Hips = 36.5 inches

  • Lost 3 ½ inches Altogether
  • Lost 3.1% of body fat
  • Lost 3.1kgs - 6.8lbs
  • Lost Lean muscle mass – (not good but very minimal)
  • Increased water % by 2.2%
  • Increased water litres by 0.3ltrs – not fantastic but an increase
  • BMI reduced by 1.4 – moved from middle of ‘overweight’ category to .3 off ‘normal’

Reassessment Results

Becky attempted the Rockport Fitness Walk Test again; this is a 1-mile walk at near maximal effort. Becky previously achieved a ‘34’ that for her age group scores her a ‘Below Average’. She has now scored a ‘38’, which for her age group is ‘Average’.

The second test Becky completed was a strength test, this included a 1 minute period to do as many press ups as she could manage. On reassessment of these tests Becky’s strength had increased as she managed 38 press-ups, 16 more than her first test. With the second part of the strength test Becky also improved with a score of 39 in one minute, an increase of 8 sit ups, excellent!

The third test was the flexibility test, this measures trunk flexion using the sit and reach test. Becky scored an average of 14.5 inches, which takes her up a level from ‘very poor’ to ‘poor’. This is a step in the right direction but still needs improvement

Finally the stress test, this is a series of questions aimed at creating a profile of the client each question is scored 1-4 and the total is added up to give a stress level score. Becky previously scored a 67, she has now scored a ‘70’, a slight increase however it still keeps Becky in the category of ‘a reasonably safe level of stress, but some areas need improvement.

Seb’s Review

After a successful first part during the third week Becky struggled a little with the concept that she didn’t manage weight loss and just maintained, It was my job to keep Becky focused and motivated. The key to remember is that achieving your goals is a marathon not a sprint and you will have times where you have highs and lows. Try not to focus on negatives or the scales as even if your weight doesn’t change your body is changing. Your lean muscle is growing; fat weight reducing and you are getting fitter and healthier! All you need to remember is ‘Effort = Results!’ keep training hard, enjoy it and your goals will get closer as each day passes.

Overall Becky has had a successful first month, it just shows that if you can be committed, focused and controlled you can reap the rewards.
