- Drink plenty of water, as being dehydrated will affect your ability to lose weight. Look at drinking at least 2 litres, up to 3 litres a day with exercise.
- Eat yourself thin don’t starve yourself fat, eating little and often this will train the body to use your food for energy not to store it as fat. By starving yourself you are training the body to store fat for the next time you starve it.
- Don’t eat whilst watching TV, when you eat messages are sent to the stomach to ask if your full, when you are distracted this message gets lost and you continue to eat until you physically can’t eat anymore.
- When you have eaten your meal, if you still feel hungry wait 5 minutes, if this hunger is still there then have another small serving, if its gone which will be the case 99% of the time then you haven’t overeaten.
- When putting your food on your plate don’t let different foods touch. For example your Sunday roast, don’t let any of your vegetables, potatoes or meat touch one another. This will help with portion size and stop you overeating.
